EXPLORE THE STRATA SERIES

STRATA

Latin for path or street – is a series about navigating life’s choices and possibilities. The name also resonates with my earlier Vias series, yet here the focus is more playful: a cartographic exploration of the ways we move through the world.

Throughout my life, every decision has always felt weighty. I’ve moved eighteen times, constantly adapting to new surroundings, finding new friends, and reshaping my life over and over again. This has given me adaptability as one of my greatest strengths — and perhaps also one of my weaknesses, as I sometimes adapt so much that I risk losing sight of myself.

With Strata, I wanted to visualize the joy and curiosity in exploring different routes. The works reflect my childhood dream of becoming an explorer, my fascination with maps and globes, and my love of drawing imaginary landscapes. They also carry the influence of my studies in urban planning with a focus on cultural development here in Hamburg. The lines and forms recall street grids, topographies, and the branching possibilities that life offers.

This series also reveals how my different approaches feed into each other. From the emotional grounding of Nota, to the relational mapping of Vias, to the color explorations of Spectra, each body of work has informed the next. In Strata, these threads converge — the structured precision of my technique, the evolving use of color, and the layered sense of movement all harmonize to create a visual language of discovery.
