Ordo et Chaos (Latin for Order and Chaos) is an ongoing art series I began in mid-2023. It marked a turning point in my practice, as it was the first body of work in which I started working in larger formats, reaching dimensions of 1.20 × 1.00 meters. I created the first pieces from my home in St. Pauli, Hamburg, and continued the series in my very first studio in the city’s Grindel district. Several works from Ordo et Chaos have entered notable contexts, including an auction at Sotheby’s as part of a journalist-directed charity initiative with Con Aqua.
These works are what I now call wall sculptures — pieces that live from a distinct sense of topography. They were also the first in which my fascination with maps and atlases became visible. When viewed from the side, the layered threads resemble mountain ranges, a subtle connection to my hometown of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, set at the foot of the Bavarian Alps.
In Ordo et Chaos, I also deepened my exploration of fractal structures — triangles, squares, and geometric forms folding into themselves again and again. This series allowed me to refine that technique further, weaving it into the broader interplay between structure and fluidity. At its core, the series reflects a constant state in my life: a shifting balance between order and chaos. Looking back, it has been a mirror of self-rediscovery, and from 2023 to this day, it continues to evolve — much like the life it mirrors.
